153.Students should bring a certain skepticism to whatever they study. They should question what they are taught instead of accepting it passively
As I am concern, the advice that students should keep skepticism and question about what they are learning during the study is obviously a wise suggestion. Nowadays, we students need to learn much more knowledge than ever before, and the overdose information has damaged the skepticism of ours. Therefore, to question the things we learn is exactly a effective way to help us with studying spontaneously.
Firstly, keeping doubt about the present theory could promote the probability to find out the new point of it. For example, R.A.Millikan, a great American physicist, spent 10 years to do experiments to try to disprove the quantum light theory, which was raised by Albert Einstein and had not been proved yet. Unexpectedly, at last, he demonstrates it instead. If he were a man that never suspects the theory, he would not conform it, which is truly of enormous significant to the science history, even the human history.
Secondly, the skepticism is also a kind of method to consolidate the knowledge that we had learnt. To question oneself about the things we just received could look up what is still unsure and cannot be understand at that time. In my experience, such self-examination may be the necessary way to master the course in the shortest time. For doubt made interest and interest is the best teacher for students to study. Also, asking yourself if a definition rational, you can consider and realized more deeply and wildly, for the progress of doubting is as the progress of understanding.
Admittedly, the excessive suspicion may do harm in studying. As it known to all, when a good thing goes to an extreme, it may bring disaster instead. For our time and energy are limited, hardly can we tangle by those endless questions.
Above all, always having a curious heart with your study could be helpful. When you are reading a book, listening to a lecture, carrying on a research, ask yourself one more question: ‘why it like that way?’ I am sure that you will get more than your imagination.
