Argument 51

The writter recommanded that all the patients who suffering from the muscle strain ought to take antibiotics. The author cites the data which provided by a contrast experiment of  the muscle injury patients. One was given antibiotics and treated by Dr.Newland who specializes in sports; the other group was given sugar pills and treated by the general physician, Dr.Alton. It is tempting to agree with that it is antibiotics that attribute to the decreace of their average recuperation time. However the false comparision between the two contrust groups may mask over other reasons that reduce the treatment period.

To begin with the threshold problem, the author fails to convince us it is the secondary infections that keep the patients from healing quickly afteer severe muscle strain. As it known to all. muscle injuries is the one of the hurt that is most hard to heal utterly. It always takes several months, even 1~2 years, to recover. That is to say, secondary infectons is not the only response for  recuperating slowly. Thus, the auther indicates that avoiding sencondary infections can helping debate the recovery time on the basis of above lines is unwarrented.

In second place, even if the preceding assumption comes into existence, preventing the muscle strain patiens from being inflection makes the recovery time decreaced. The argument suffers from the great flaw in comparision between the two contrast group. The study rely on the two parts of patients, which have more than one element to effect on the result. Common sence informs me that the doctor specialized in sports know better than the genneral physician in the field of rehabilitation, which exert a profund influence on the treatment period. And also, there is no evidence to demonstrate that two sets patients are in equivalent injury severity. As it stand, We can not conclude that the antibiotics work as the one and only effective component, for the author excluding the foregoing possibilities.

In the thirs place, even if the antibiotic is the unique reason for abbraving the repcuperayion process, the auther still has trouble in his conclusion. He or she assert that who are diagnosed whith muscle strain woud be advised to take antibiotics. The recommadation may lead to a terrible result. Commoncence informs me that the antibiotic abusing can cause lethal consequence, fo the antibiotics may produce the resistance to those medicine, and it is perfectly possible that such resistance will be the response to one’s death. Therefore, the conclusione provided by the author is absolutely dangerouse.

In sum, the recommandation for using antibiotics is not well supported. To convincing me  that the patients ought to take the antibiotics as a part of treatment, the author should provide more information about the contrast experiment and demonstrate the only effective elements in rehabilitation is the antibiotics. Also, the writter have to prove that there is no relation between the antibiotics used in treatment and the vital disease.
